Low-Impact Camping Rules

by TravelCurators Editorial | 6 August 2010 | | 0 comments

Five simple and effective tips to low impact camping...

  • Stay on the same trail: Simply following the known path in the wilderness will not create new paths which reduce vegetation and denude the landscape.

  • Camp in designated area: New campsites can add additional pressures on the existing vegetation.

  • Avoid building camp fires: Fire rings damage the landscape.

  • Leave no waste: Please pack all the waste including biodegradables such as fruit peels. Strewing leftovers will condition the animals to expect food every time campers and hikers are around which can have disastrous consequences.

  • Do not pollute the streams: Camp at least 200 feet away from a water source. Please rinse your dishes with bottled water, not stream water.
